The MaPP House is a modular, prefabricated building system that adheres to the 5 principles of the Passive House Institute of the United States:
1.The house employs continuous insulation throughout its entire envelope without any thermal bridging.
2.The building envelope is extremely airtight, preventing infiltration of outside air and loss of conditioned air.
3.The house uses high-performance windows (typically triple paned) and doors.
4.The HVAC system is a balanced heat- and moisture-recovery ventilation and a minimal space conditioning system.
5.Solar gain is managed to exploit the sun's energy for heating purposes in the heating season and to minimize overheating during the cooling season.
The MaPP House takes advantage of the economic benefits of prefabricated construction and structural insulated panels. The house can be built in less time while creating less material waste than a conventional, stick-built home.
The MaPP house uses renewable materials and active solar technologies in a home that maintains a high level of sustainability while costing less than a traditional dwelling.
Because the MaPP house is a system, home designs can be adapted to fit any building site and solar orientation.
